O. Henry, the pen name for William Sydney Porter (born September 11, 1862, Greensboro, North Carolina, United States; died June 5, 1910, New York, New York, United States), was an American short story writer. Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, he relocated to Texas in 1882, where he encountered his future wife, Athol Estes, with whom he raised two children.
Over the course of his lifetime, he crafted more than six hundred stories. Within this exquisitely designed classic leather-bound edition, seventy of his tales have been carefully compiled. This collection features some of his masterpieces, including ‘The Gift of the Magi,’ ‘The Ransom of Red Chief,’ ‘A Retrieved Reformation,’ ‘The Duplicity of Hargraves,’ and ‘An Unfinished Story,’ among others.
